Declaration of Independence
"Like those who came before us, we, the creators of this sacred society, do recognize that a time has come upon us in which the bonds of an old life must be dissolved in order to generate a new and better one for all people. With respect, we declare the causes which have driven our abolishment and separation from an old and deteriorating society that was failing its citizens.
As they had before us, we too “hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed…with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness…” However, we must attest that the promises of our old nation fell short of bestowing any such rights or motions of equality upon us. We were forced to live in a world of entrapment, slavery, discrimination, and filth while the government fed us utterances of freedom, equality, liberty, and happiness, and led us to believe we were endowed with all. But how can this be so in a world where one thousand men could be falling into peril, while just one could be holding all of the wealth and power of a million combined? How could this be so in a nation of many in constant fear for their lives and the lives of their children, where one could be made to fight and die for a cause which they did not believe in, where the majority is imposed to suffer the evils of the things to which they had never consented? How could this be so?
We, therefore, the creators of this nation of Solabalvita, appeal to the formation of this society which will be built off of the foundations of true equality, true freedom, and true happiness. We yearn to abolish our old society, government, and connections in an attempt to successfully construct such a perfect world, and forever dissolve the oppressive regulations of the past."
Solabalvita's Governing Body
There were twelve original founders of Solabalvita. Together, they decided that in order to make sure that no one person ever became too powerful, they must create a rotating council of twelve citizens who would make decisions, enforce punishment and rules, and solve any problems of the land. This council takes the role of the judiciary, executive, and legislative branches. These twelve citizens stay in power for six months, and then rotate with a new group of twelve citizens. Once any citizen in Solabalvita reaches the age of 25, they are automatically put into a lottery, with the possibility of randomly being chosen as one of twelve in the council. They may opt out of being on the council if they wish, but most citizens jump at the opportunity to further improve this land. Once they have been chosen once, their name is removed from the lottery, so that other citizens will have a better chance of being in the council, as well. This system ensures that new thoughts will be coming forward, because there will be many different minds on the council all the time. Together, the council meets monthly, or more if necessary to discuss issues, develop solutions, and deal with punishments if necessary. Any citizens are welcome to attend these meetings and share their ideas, as well. Ultimately, the council enforces all rules, changes and develops new laws, and also decides punishments depending upon the votes of the citizens of Solabalvita.
Some Rules of Solabalvita
- Respect and value all life
o We want our citizens to feel safe and secure, and therefore, wish to keep all violence and danger out of our society. Depending upon the seriousness and reason for committing an act of violence, appropriate action will be taken.
- Keep Solabalvita Clean and Beautiful
o We wish to reduce pollution and prevent littering so that our country can stay clean and healthy. Appropriate punishment will be given to those who commit such acts of vandalism in our beautiful Utopia.
- Citizens Shall be Pleasant
o Nobody wants to deal with people who are always negative, degrading towards others, or just plain annoying. In the time before Solabalvita, the world was full of jerks who spread their tendencies to others and make society a very unhappy and unsatisfying place to live. Therefore, anyone who is charged with being a consistent jerk, liar, backstabber, or anything of the sort will be put on a three-strike policy. If the actions continue, the citizen will be put on trial to potentially be excommunicated from Solabalvita
- Maximum of a Six-Hour Work Day, Five Days a Week
o If everyone works hard and does their part to contribute to society during their six hours of work, five days a week, then there is no need to bring your job home with you or to stay there late. Solabalvita wants to bestow every citizen with a sufficient amount of time to make friends, enjoy their family, get outside, do exercise, relax, and truly enjoy their lives. This also means that there is no take-home work for adults or homework for children, as they had the six hours to accomplish all that they should have had to.
- Discrimination and harassment, etc. are Unwanted
o These are things of the past. They plagued our old societies, and we want Solabalvita to be rid of them. Therefore, discrimination, harassment, or anything of the sort, whether it be racial, sexual, or other is considered a crime in Solabalvita.
- There is no Need to Steal
o Everyone has everything that they need, and no one is richer or poorer than another. Therefore, no one should be committing any such crime as stealing.
- Freedom of everything
o Freedom of speech, music, movies, actions (as long as they do not infringe upon other laws such as littering, stealing, harming others) are all permitted and encouraged in Solabalvita. So, you have the freedom to speak out for what you believe in, do what makes you happy, and be truly liberated as long as you are not infringing upon the happiness of others.
- Citizens attend School until the age of 20
o Education is very important for everyone, and it will help to keep Solabalvita a place of good economy, society, and ethics.
- The history of life before Solabalvita came to exist shall be common knowledge
o History teaches us lessons, and helps us to not repeat the past, so if we want future generations to continue following in our great footsteps, they must know of the hardships of the past.
- “Anti-illness Shot” shall be administered to every citizen of Solabalvita
This shot ensures that all of the serious illnesses or diseases of the past, such as AIDS, cancer, HIV, etc. will never exist in our society. Therefore, the citizens can be happier and healthier without the worry and stress of illnesses and diseases.
